Official Obituary

Aubrey ‘Leroy’ King, Jr., 84, of Las Vegas, Nevada, sadly left us on March 10, 2024.

Leroy was born on June 24, 1939, to Aubrey and Charlotte King in Brazil, Indiana. Leroy lived his mischievous young life in Phoenix, Arizona with his four siblings late Nancy, Kenneth, Robert ‘Bobby’, and late Howard. After Leroy graduated from Tolleson High School (AZ) in 1958 he became a pastry chef apprentice. After completing his culinary apprenticeship, he started working for the Arizona Biltmore and ended his 45 year career as an Executive Pastry Chef in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Leroy married his first wife, late Jean Ann (McFarland) King, in Phoenix, Arizona on April 8, 1962. Leroy spotted Jean while cruising the main drag in town and fell for her instantly. Leroy and Jean were married for 5 & ½ years when Jean died of natural causes on December 29, 1967, at the age of 25.

Leroy married his second wife, late Cheryl Lynn (Gibson) King, in San Francisco, California on August 28, 1971. Leroy and Cheryl met through Cheryl’s roommate and became quick friends. Leroy and Cheryl went on to have 2 devoted daughters, Nicole (Eric) Stevens and Stephanie (Rafael) Acosta. Leroy and Cheryl were married for 45 & ½ years when Cheryl passed on March 14, 2017, at the age of 70.

Leroy met his girlfriend, Raeann Guisewhite, in late 2018 at the Green Valley gym. Leroy and Raeann’s relationship grew quickly, and they bought a beautiful one story home in Las Vegas together. Leroy and Raeann were together almost 5 years and Raeann was by his side when he passed.

Leroy was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was kind, loyal, and humble. He will be remembered for all the adventures he shared with his family and friends – from skipping school, to working in Washington, D.C., the Grand Tetons, and Las Vegas to name a few, driving numerous road trips spanning from Alaska to Chile, hiking the Grand Canyon multiple times, camping trips with his girls, taking the grandkids on road trips or to NASCAR races, and ‘Beer’ Camp or any trip to Stuart Island. He truly loved everything he did and those who were with him along the way. He will be missed terribly.

Leroy leaves behind his girlfriend Raeann, his daughters Nicole (Eric) and Stephanie (Rafael), his grandchildren: Kobee Acosta, Donnie Grinnell, Gage King, Damen Stevens, Gabriella Acosta, Jett Stevens, his great-grandson Magnus Grinnell, and his two brothers Kenny and Bobby.
