ACF Chefs Las Vegas Advisory Board

Chairman's Message

Dear Members:

John A. Rees III, ChairmanIt is my honor to serve as the Chairman of the ACF Chefs Las Vegas Associate Advisory Board. The Advisory Board was created to help support both the ACF Chefs Las Vegas and Chefs for Kids. We proudly support the Chef for Kids Breakfast and monthly ACF Chefs’ meeting.

This year we took on the challenge of organizing a Chefs for Kids Breakfast at Hewetson Elementary School. Our team pulled together and took care of all the items needed for this breakfast. We met at 4:00 AM at South Point Casino to start cooking all of the products, with the Help of Chef Jamie Poltrock and her staff. We were able to get everything prepared and loaded up in time to make the breakfast start time. It was great working together to take care of the students.

This year for our Chefs for Kids Dinner Auction, we offered the “Feast for Fifty BBQ” package. The event was to be held at an UNLV Rebel Football game. Berkshire Hathaway purchased this package at the Chef for Kids Auction. They ask us if we could do this “Feast for Fifty BBQ” package after 12-31-17. We agreed and we are going to be doing their package at a Las Vegas 51’s Baseball game. The Feast for Fifty BBQ is going to be a great event for our Advisory Board Members as well as the recipients who purchased this package. We also sold our package at this year’s Chefs for Kids dinner for the upcoming UNLV Football season. It will also be a fun time for all as we support our UNLV Rebel Football Team, GO REBELS!

This year was our 20th Annual Golf Tournament, we did this honoring one of our past members, Max Daffner. The day was a bit windy, but a sunny day to golf in beautiful Henderson, Nevada. Our board members who chaired this event were Greg Schenkel of Advantage Waypoint, Lance Cranford of Desert Gold, and our newest board member Russ Kelley. We greatly appreciated the staff at Legacy Golf Course for hosting our tournament; they did a great job for us this year.

We had a full course of golfers this year and we sold out all the Tee Boxes. Due to an overwhelming response from our Chefs, all participating Chefs were able to golf for free as guests of the Associate Advisory Board. We even had to add teams of Chefs only! We would like to say thank you to all of the businesses that purchased a Tee Box this year, without you this would not have been so successful.

Our after Golf meal was provided by Elite Food Brokers, their Chef Yvonne Maatouk did an amazing job. Thank you Brandi Niemeyer from Elite Food Brokers. We are looking forward to hosting next year’s event. We would also like to say Thank you to Three Square for joining us at our Golf Tournament. As a Board we decided to share the proceeds with Chef for Kids, Three Square and the ACF Chefs of Las Vegas.

I would like to personally thank all the Advisory Board for their continued support to our team. We currently have 10 members on our board and are looking for two (2) additional members. It is extremely rewarding serving on the board. We had a great year are looking forward to next year.

I encourage all members to check out the ACF Chefs of Las Vegas website for information on upcoming events. This website is a great way to join or update your membership to one of the finest chef associations.

In order to qualify as a member of the Advisory Board, you must be a member of the ACF Chefs Las Vegas for one year minimum. I would like to encourage more Associates to join the ACF Chefs Las Vegas. We are only as good as our members and we want to make our chapter even better in the coming years. Without all of our member companies supporting us, we will not achieve our goals. Help us make this organization work. Please feel free to contact any of the Chefs or Advisory Board members for a membership application or go to our website acfchefslasvegas.org for more information on all of our events.

Our Mission:

The ACF Chefs Las Vegas Associate Advisory Board is a voice for the Associate Membership. We serve as Liaison between the Chefs and our Associate Members by attending monthly membership meetings, acting as sponsors for the meetings, and attending monthly Chefs' Board of Director Meetings. We help facilitate the Chefs' goals by holding fundraising events and donating proceeds to their Board of Directors.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve.

Sincerely,

John A Rees III
ACFLV Advisory Board Chairman
